2023 Election Results

Published: March 8, 2023

Small-town elections affect the daily lives of people living in a community. These elections determine who will be making decisions on issues that are important to the town such as zoning, road repairs, safety, public services, education, the environment, and taxes. That’s why it’s crucial for all of us to exercise our right to vote and participate in the democratic process.

The last two days have reminded us of the best of Norwich. We saw our community come together to discuss the challenges our town is facing. Then we voted, making our collective voices heard. By casting our ballots, we are helping to shape the future of our beloved town and ensure that our opinions are taken into consideration by those who we elected to represent us.

We also must be thankful for all the candidates who participated in this election. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer your time. Whether your preferred candidates won or lost, we all need to continue to stay engaged. Our elected officials are accountable to all of us. SUFN will continue to cover Selectboard meetings and other issues in town. We choose to share information with the community in order to shed light on what our representatives are doing and encourage everyone in the community to stay engaged.

In small towns like ours, elected officials are volunteers, not professionals. They take on the burden of listening, debating, and deciding. But they also need your support year round. The combined knowledge and experiences of Norwich residents is our best asset. Please consider ways to contribute to the running of our town. You can join a committee or contribute your opinion at Selectboard meetings. As always, you can reach out to us for ideas on how to get involved.

The incoming Selectboard will hold its first meeting tonight at 6:30 pm in the Community Room of the Public Safety Building at 10 Hazen Street. Show up!
